Students improve chassis

Samuel Stähli and Thierry Zimmerman, students of mechanical engineering, improved the chassis and the steering drive of the Cybathlon wheelchair in a student project. They aimed at a functional sample with a better stability and maneuverability. By adapting the suspensions, the students optimized the lateral stability of the chassis. They improved the maneuverability by replacing the former linear drive by a separate drive in each wheel. This resulted in a seven times faster steering speed.
